THE SCOOP ON RELEASE PRINT May/June issue: The Business End of Filmmaking Distribution, marketing, publicity, politics. They are dirty jobs, but somebody's got to do them, and usually that somebody is you. Release Print goes places most of us would rather not go, and asks you to reconsider your relationship to commerce. Read about niche distribution and how business affects those you do business with, explore political filmmaking in a bottom line world, and gain some understanding of the print press and how to approach editors. Also filmmaker Alan Berliner talks about his latest documentary, Wide Awake. July/August issue: The Activist Camera Filmmakers are in the business of telling human stories, and all human stories are colored by politics, so it's only natural that film and politics should maintain a vital alliance. In this spirit we give you "The Activist Camera," a celebration of our community's natural proclivity for stirring the pot and bringing it to a slow boil. From Iraq to Wal-Mart to "Dykeback Mountain," we'll see what inspires today's makers to take action through their work, paying special attention to how it's getting "out there," who is watching, and what the future portends for activist media.
