Dear Friend of Film,

The Board and Staff of Film Arts Foundation are very grateful to you all for your contributions, and most particularly for your faith and patience. We hope that you will continue this support. The good news is that we have raised $30,000.00 during our transitional campaign and donations continue to arrive.

As we told you in our letter of April 24th, we will continue to send you monthly updates on our progress during this period.

You know we have been having discussions with other organizations to see if we can smoothly transition the majority of the services which FAF has always provided. We have listed those services below and should be able to give you some exciting news by this time next month.

Education
Fiscal Sponsorship
Membership
News and Media Resources, (magazine, on-line information etc.)
Group Legal Counsel
Granting to Filmmakers
Youth Media Literacy Education

Our negotiations have been very successful to date and we are close to achieving a sustainable solution that will best facilitate the needs of our members. As we have assured you before, our Legacy will continue! We hope to be able to give you dates and details in our next update. Until that time here is the following FAF news:

Fiscal Sponsorship is in full operation, once again under the able guidance of Michele Turnure-Salleo and fiscal sponsorship coordinator, Linda Tracey. Lynnette Gryseels has moved to Los Angeles to pursue other professional opportunities. Remember the next deadline for applications is July 31, 2008. For application guidelines and instructions, please see http://www.filmarts.org/funding. As always, funds received for fiscally sponsored projects are handled separately from our operational funds. Once a donation is received for a sponsored project, we deposit the funds in a separate account and release the funds once the donation check has cleared. For Fiscal Sponsorship inquiries, call 415 552 8760 ext. 8, or e-mail sponsoredprojects@filmarts.org.

Membership will continue to be supervised by Michael Behrens during the summer.

Michael is also in charge of the facility equipment SALE for members:
Sunday, June 8 through Saturday, June 14
10:00am to 5:00pm
Film Arts Foundation
145 9th St., Suite #101
San Francisco, CA 94103

Admission is free for members and $10.00 for non-members. CASH and CREDIT CARDS only. NO CHECKS.

The magazine, Film Arts, will not have a summer issue but will be re-launched in another format in the Fall.

TILT - Film Arts' youth media literacy program - continues in full operation. Youth media programmer Skye Christensen is planning this year's Summer Film Camp for students aged 14-19, slated for August 4-21, 2008. For TILT inquiries, call 415-552-8760 ext. 6, or e-mail tilt@filmarts.org.

Apart from the extended hours for the gear sale noted above, the office continues to be open Monday through Friday from 2-5pm. We have a phone system in place whereby if you call on the main number - 415-552-8760 - you will be guided to the department of your choice. If you leave a message, we assure you of a response within 24 hours.

As you can see Film Arts Foundation has not closed its doors, but only opened them wider to encompass new possibilities. We are really excited about the success of our planning, which will ensure that the hundreds of independent filmmakers across the country that rely on the resources that Film Arts provides will continue to be nurtured as before, but in a better and more efficient fashion.

Film Arts Foundation's debts must be cleared in order for us to enable the proposed transition. We are gaining ground, but continue to need your help.

To pledge your support for Film Arts, please make a gift of $100, $250, $500, $1,000, or any amount that you choose. Click here to make a secure, tax-deductible gift today.

Please spread the word to others you know who may also want to get involved.

Sincerely,

Steve Ramirez, Chairman
Diana Fuller, Vice-Chairman
