Join us at the ReDeclaration of Independents gala, and celebrate two decades of compelling, political, fierce and potent independent filmmaking in Northern California. Kicking off the 20th anniversary Festival, this event spotlights three filmmakers who represent the independent spirit and artistic vigor of our filmmaking community: Terry Zwigoff, Lourdes Portillo, and Craig Baldwin. All three will have their say about the current state of independent media and artistic freedom.
Mingle with the Bay Area’s most influential filmmakers, enjoy delicious food, and discover Mighty, a gorgeous converted brick warehouse located in the heart of the San Francisco design district.
The gala will feature special performances by The Mitch Stein Trio and Rough Draft, a rock ensemble featuring several Bay Area literary luminaries such as Nion McEvoy and Louis B. Jones.
Gala guests can participate in a silent auction of art featuring the creative genius of Bay Area visual artists Bruce Conner, Linda Connor, Lowell Darling, Judy Dater, William Farley, Jeanne C. Finley, Todd Hido, Larry Jordan, Dale Kistemaker, George Kuchar, Chip Lord, Lynn Hershman Leeson, Phil Makanna, Eli Noyes, Larry Sultan, and Catherine Wagner. Sale of all other art at Mighty will benefit Film Arts as well, thanks to Mighty curator Charles Linder!
Every gala guest will receive a 20th Anniversary Festival DVD with short films from the upcoming Festival, as well as admission to the DJ after-party featuring internationally renowned DJ’s Mark Farina, Kaskade, and DJ Fluid.
